I was youtubing yesterday and found some rather interesting idea in boosting the WIFI signal. At first I thought it was a hoax and the comments left behind was really awesome lah..
So back to the office today, I was trying to get a better signal for my pathetic notebooks as the WIFI signal was from upstair.
So what I did as intructed, I took the chisel and hammer start to hack a 18 cm hole from the ceiling.. which the 18 cm hole must be as precise as round as possible. Okie.. now that is something really awesome!! Nope it was just a frictions of imagination to shake you up from morning sickness.. :p
So it is really simple, most of the old notebook is not having as strong signal up as the latter one. So get a network cable.. not too long lah.. get a 3G phone.. so what we do here is... if you r having a clamshell phone.. open it up.. just coil around as much as possible on the phone the network cable line.. and just tape it temporary lah so that it wont lose the network wire..
tadah.. now pluck it into your network card of your pc or notebook..
Tadaahhh... you should see your signal start to pick up and perhaps you can get to see other further WIFI signal as well. I did it and from very low one bar to 4 bar which indicate good signal. I tested it and it the speed is so much faster..
Now to enhance more of the signal. Get a decent 10 or 15cm diametre plastic bowl and wrap it with aluminium foil. Tape the phone in the centre of the foil wrap bowl and viola ... you got even stronger signal. Frankly I haven't tried this yet lah.
The catch is I dont have a 3G phone.. so give me an excuse to get one.. :p
Simply leaving your room doors and windows open makes a big difference in signal strength I find.
