How time had take hold of us.. The past few days was kinda like everywhere for me. I had just had breakfast@lunch with Leong Eng and Alan while Yee Teng follow suit later. Time to talk cock again and today was not of our Malaysia political weather. It must has been sometime since Leong Eng & Alan regain a tiny piece of freedom for such occasion. Kesian dia orang,..mentah mentah bukan bujang lagi ler tu. Season yumcha-er is does not possess such iconic presentation. So here am I to present my blog which should be posted two days ago…but I was dragged to Kepala Batas to do some formal photo shooting ler. It came out really a chaos ler… ahaha..It is my first encounter with Pak Lah anyway..I emangle. He kinda spotted me ler…with 300mm at his face. Ahaha…
So I will break down the chapter to make it easy to read as some complain my line is two lengthy which lead them astray.. tell that to Shakespeare ler… :P
Everyone shout “VELL VELL!”
Thaipusam….
I woke up with my alarm set at 8.30…a four hours sleep definitely is a punishment. Therefore in order to escape such cruelty, I woke up at 10. So upon arrival was almost 11am. Therefore I miss the cleansing at the river part I guess. Park at a decent distance away to escape the jam lah. Bloody cloudy cum hot sky was the overcast condition as I reach the entrance. True enough I was lucky spotted the kavadi bearer at that time at the entrance. So I follow the kavadian & begin my shooting. This indeed was my first Thaipusam event. To my surprise there is even a mat salleh couple on parole… ahaha.. repaying deeds.. *grin. This is in fact quite an eye opening event for me. It was not long from the entrance since I joined the sardine pack crowd. But I was lucky to hook to the side of the dawai fence which give me some real close up view of the kavadi bearer. You could see all kinda stunts and performance over here. There are those band from their own local community come to support their kavadi bearer..Vel vel…vel vel… I even spotted one mat salleh amoi dancing to the tune. Clubbing tak cukup ler tu…
Along the way, some of those that could be possess provide sheer curiosity to me. There are those that come to ask for blessing from the kavadi bearer.. Casting out the demons in them also ada….. Reminds me of charismatic church services. So the question is who initiate such practices first or who really reinvent the wheel again and utter it into perfection?
From the entrance to the kaki tangga took me almost 2 hours ler. I was really really dehydrated…but I really din feel at that time not till I reach to the top. At first I thought it is advisable for me to give way to those devotees to pass thru the queue. However there are those trying to create the opportunity to go further. I at one time tak tahan and shout “ Woi!”. It sure gain attention ler. “Wah! This Cina also kena rasuk ka?” Sri Muruga is upon me!! Anyway, Malaysia is still Malaysian lah… So if u think that we as three major races and the minority has not come to a Malaysian identity…look again… Look at the way we cut queue….There is a unique pattern to it. Yes.! Ain’t we proud to be a Malaysian?
Alas, finally at the top… Bought a small bottle of mineral water and gulp it in slowly. Can imagine how perspired I am ler. So I continued to take somemore shots inside the cave. It is here that I saw some Chinese too.. and what is even more surprise is the Chinese kavadi carrier too when I am on the way out. How magnificent has Malaysia Harmony has become of… I think the next round am going to come to shoot a different stuff altogether..
Hmmm.. perhaps I should compile this event to the proshow..how about it?
So despite the exhaustion and dehydration, I was quite please that I was able to capture some shoots that means to much to me. There are some shoots that which I tot at the back of my mind was mediocre came out to be really fine too… A day well worth spending ler.
Upon reaching home, I lepak in my room. Not for long a call came. This time was a sudden death..Cannot sleep ler.. have to go to the North liao..
Kepala Batas
Shooting the PM was what motivate me to come to Kepala Batas. In addition of shooting of the MOU signing event, I was thrill at how people actually shoot this kinda official function. My first time shooting at such event anyway…which came out to be …fairly poor or way below par. Well, learn from the mistakes and retune ler. I manages to snap quite some Pak Lah photos ler.. Mostly could be private collection liao. So hope to be able to blast some interesting stuff the next round.
