Uncle Lim and U..

Lim Goh Tong or better known as Uncle Lim as passed away yesterday morning at 11.20am. He lived to 90 years of age. That man has somehow has the guts and vision during his era. Like the Jews that believe the land of milk and honey ... he dare to take the hill as Tunku offered the casino licensing to those that dare to take the hill. A man that synomym to Genting and the sweat of his labour. This guy is definitely an oppportunist and as true is it u dont get rich solving problem but seizing the opportunity.

He has a little of pieces in our life. Well, all reknown man either make u mad, sad or glad. Apparently as amazing as it is, he has capable to leave us all this 3 elements behind. What has he meant to u as an indirect approach of course. Speaking of Genting, as those of in their 30's of age now should recall several nostalgic story in Genting.

One of my best took childhood picture happen to be in Genting. Damn, where has that picture gone to? Some of the best memories and could recall memories was also Genting. I remembered when we were small, going to Genting was a big hu-ha!!

1 - 5 Years old...
I recall then there were this hot water based indoor swimming pool. I dont know whether it is still functioning or not but that is something that is really still fresh in my memories.

5 - 18 Years of age...
Well, of course parents and relatives have a hang out there at the casino. I only recall the theme park which there is this new antique car which we could finally drive as a children. Then the paddle boat and also the sampan...which also leads to the shark mouth.. High school day.. Ria Apartment and its nostalgic spooky story and all students holiday loitering around...

19 - 20s
Before my dating time, I used to drive Kancil and go up Genting with by close buddies. We would somehow sneak into the staff to makan. Surprisingly good food and fair price. We would go on fri or sat nite to go up there to makan angin. Lepaking and foot reflexology at the Park is fun too. It only took us 45 mins or less to go up Genting.. I recalled and incident where I almost go into an accident and I managed to curb it away..There is three cars sandwiches in front..Bless them..it was at the old turning up the hill after the tunnel. That night also... 3 of us have to "carried" out our kancil due to some car blocking. Wonder how we did it that time with 3 young blood doing the miracles.

20s - late 20s
Dating is fun and going up there to makan angin was rather cool at night. Miss those old time.. though I am now still ...alone... ahaha.. We would drive up in the middle of the night and lepak there. I still remembered one afternoon where i hold up my ex and those monkeys on the monorail actually spotted us.. and shouting at us.. Ahahah... and the haunted house. hmmmm...well, lets not indulge in it anymore.

Late 20s - till now
Being singlehood for the pass years.. going up Genting was just for starbucking and coffee beaning and surfing... it was really chatting for few hours and making it back to KL. Beside that, casino was part of the event. I am no gambler and find no thrill. The most is lost some 5 - 20 bucks as donation. Just tagging along ler... seeing frens in action.

a Fresh recall...
On 5th December 1999, I was rather depressed that my ex was far from what I could achieve. I get Alan along and we set up on a journey up to Genting on foot from the McD at the foothill. It was a long journey and from Awana onwards was really a tormenting one. We made it up there...There are some good samaritans that offered us a ride...I remembered this family with a kids of 3 in their 4 wheels really offered us.... Anyway, we were dead tired and silent... had the mix rice and skip the plan of walking back down. Took the bus at 2pm and get our car and straight home. This is an unforgettable event..

  1. The only reasons I have to go to Genting anymore is either to accompany children to the theme park or to watch some specific performance. Earlier this year Siaw Shan and I spent two night there to watch Jonathan Lee's concert. On the free day, we watched 300 at the cinema there, walked around a lot and ate at the Olive restaurant. We were bored and happy to go back by the third day.

  2. Nolah, we are not bored.
The reason Kong Yew wanted to go home is that there's no nice chicks to look at. He said:"Hei....all the nice one wear too much cloth. Nothing to see..."
